Why book Celebrity Cruises

Why a Celebrity Cruises voyage?

Six reasons we recommend this line to the right kind of traveller.

Modern-luxury, not stuffy

Designed by Kelly Hoppen and Nate Berkus among others — the public spaces feel like a contemporary boutique hotel. Service is warm but unobtrusive: white-glove without the white-glove fuss.

The Retreat — a ship-within-a-ship

Suite guests get exclusive access to Luminae (a private, chef-led restaurant), The Retreat Lounge, a private sundeck with pool and bar, dedicated butler service and priority everywhere. The most refined way to cruise short of the all-inclusive ultra-lux lines.

Genuinely great food

32 distinct dining venues across the bigger ships. Le Voyage by three-Michelin-starred Daniel Boulud headlines the Edge Series. Plus a sushi bar, steakhouse, French bistro, and casual options that go well beyond the cruise-buffet stereotype.

All Included pricing — no nickel-and-diming

Choose the All Included fare and your premium drinks package, basic Wi-Fi and daily gratuities are baked in. The bill at the end is the bill at the start, with no surprise add-ons.

The world, properly

All seven continents — Mediterranean, Caribbean, Alaska, Northern Europe and the British Isles, Asia, Australia & New Zealand, Galapagos, Antarctica. Both bucket-list big-ship sailings and small-ship expedition voyages on Celebrity Flora.

Wellness without compromise

eXhale signature bedding and pillow menus in every cabin. The SEA Thermal Suite — sauna, steam, heated loungers, hammam — is a serious wellness destination. Onboard fitness includes spin, yoga, Pilates and personal training.

The honest version

Might not be for you if…

No cruise line is for everyone. Here's where Celebrity Cruises might not fit. We'll point you elsewhere if so.

You want adults-only

Celebrity is family-friendly with kids' programmes (Camp at Sea) and connecting cabins. If you specifically want a kid-free escape, Virgin Voyages or Saga is a better fit.

You hate any kind of dress code

Daytime is Smart Casual — but most evenings are Evening Chic, where shorts, ball caps and flip-flops aren't welcome in main dining. If you want zero clothing rules, look at MSC, Norwegian or Virgin.

Tipping culture isn't for you

Daily gratuities are $18-$23 per guest per day on lower fares (included in All Included pricing). On premium drinks an automatic 20% service charge applies. Saga or Regent build all gratuities into the fare instead.

You want an ultra-small expedition feel

The big-ship sailings carry 2,900-3,200 guests. Celebrity Flora (100 guests) is the exception in Galapagos. For polar or true expedition cruising, look at Hurtigruten, Silversea Expedition or Lindblad.

FAQ

Quick answers about Celebrity Cruises

What does "All Included" actually cover?
On the All Included fare you get a Classic Drinks Package (cocktails, wine, beer, soft drinks up to a $10 per-drink limit), a basic Surf Wi-Fi connection for one device, and the daily gratuities all baked into your fare. Specialty dining, premium spirits above the limit and shore excursions are still extras.
Is Celebrity good for kids?
Yes — Camp at Sea runs across the fleet for ages 3-17, split into age groups, with art rooms, science labs, gaming and dedicated teen lounges. Connecting cabins are available, and most ships offer family-sized accommodation. The atmosphere is more grown-up than a Royal Caribbean mega-ship, so it suits families looking for refinement over waterslides.
What's the difference between The Retreat and a normal suite?
The Retreat is the suite-class experience as a whole — not just the cabin. It includes Luminae (a private restaurant), The Retreat Lounge, the private Retreat Sundeck (with its own pool and bar), butler service, premium drinks, premium Wi-Fi, all gratuities, and concierge access. Booking a Sky Suite or higher gets you into The Retreat automatically.
How does the dress code work?
Daytime everywhere is Smart Casual — beach-to-pool clothing in casual venues. From 6pm in main dining and specialty restaurants, most nights are Evening Chic: collared shirts and trousers or dresses, no shorts, ball caps, swimwear or flip-flops. Buffets and casual venues stay relaxed all evening.
Where does Celebrity go in the world?
All seven continents. Mainstream big-ship sailings cover the Caribbean, Bermuda, Bahamas, Mediterranean, Northern Europe, British Isles, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and Antarctica. Celebrity Flora — a 100-guest expedition vessel — covers the Galapagos year-round.
Is Wi-Fi included?
Basic Surf Wi-Fi (browsing, social, messaging on one device) is included on All Included fares. The Stream upgrade adds HD video and multiple devices for a per-day charge. Elite Plus and Zenith Captain's Club tiers get free premium Wi-Fi.
What's Perfect Day at CocoCay?
It's the private Bahamian island operated by Royal Caribbean group, and select Celebrity itineraries call there. You get private beaches, a freshwater pool, food and drink venues, and access to extras like Thrill Waterpark and the Coco Beach Club. Some inclusions are paid extras.
Do I need a passport?
Yes — passport with at least six months' validity beyond your voyage end date is the safest choice for any sailing. Some closed-loop US-departing Caribbean itineraries accept alternatives for US citizens, but a passport book is still strongly recommended.
