Puerto Pollensa, Balearics, Spain
Hotel Illa d’Or sits at the peaceful, pine-sheltered end of Puerto Pollensa, right on the waterfront and the famous Pine Walk. The promenade runs along a sheltered horseshoe bay backed by mountains, with small sandy coves, lapping water and whitewashed villas adding to the classic Mediterranean feel.
You’re a short stroll from cafés and low-key bars, with the main resort centre about 1.5km away along the promenade. Illa d’Or Club Apartments are across a small road, about 130m from the main hotel, giving a quieter, more residential feel while keeping the bay on your doorstep.
Keen golfers will appreciate having a course around 12.6km away, and walkers are well-placed for the Formentor peninsula and Boquer Valley trails.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
You’ll have a choice of two outdoor freshwater pools:
– A main pool with a children’s section, lined with sunbeds and parasols – ideal for families or relaxed laps before breakfast.
– A second adult-only pool with a calm atmosphere, smart loungers and Balinese beds, open seasonally (typically late February to early November).
Pool towels are complimentary, and facilities, dates and operating hours can vary by season.
The real star, though, is the bay itself. Being right on the waterfront means you can be sitting on the seafront terrace one minute and dipping your toes in the sea the next, with the sheltered waters of Puerto Pollensa especially inviting for gentle swims and paddleboarding.
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness and low-key activity are very much part of the Illa d’Or experience:
– Air-conditioned gym with cardio machines, free weights, stretching area and sauna (typically open 09:00–19:00, ages 16+).
– Spa with whirlpool and a menu of massage and beauty treatments (16+, extra charges, seasonal opening usually March–November).
– Tennis available on-site (local charge).
Beyond that, the hotel offers regular evening entertainment from March to October, including live music, in-house shows and visiting performers – always designed to suit the hotel’s relaxed, elegant vibe rather than late-night partying.
Practical extras include a helpful reception and concierge team, currency exchange, luggage storage and a range of handy equipment for hire such as pushchairs, bottle warmers, sun tents, fans, mobility scooters and wheelchairs (local charges may apply).

Food & drink
The dining here is as classic as the building itself. The a la carte restaurant serves a refined mix of international, British, Spanish, local and French dishes, with buffet and à la carte service at breakfast and dinner plus show cooking in the mornings. Think leisurely breakfasts overlooking the bay and candlelit dinners with linen tablecloths and well-chosen wines.
A stylish cocktail bar pours local, international and premium drinks from late morning until late evening (typically 10:00–23:00, open roughly March–November). It’s the perfect spot to linger on the sunset terrace and watch boats drift back into the marina.
A smart dress code usually applies (gentlemen asked to wear long trousers and no beachwear inside), and reservations or supplements may apply depending on your board basis. Facilities and opening times are based on the previous season and can change.
If you’re considering Half Board vs B&B, remember: Half Board lets you enjoy more of the hotel’s culinary side, while Self Catering in the apartments gives you flexibility to explore Puerto Pollensa’s excellent seafront restaurants. For more on inclusions, see what board upgrades typically include.
