Map & location
Alvor, Algarve, Portugal
Alvor is one of the Algarve’s most characterful corners – a former fishing village wrapped around a lagoon, with cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses and a string of sea-view restaurants. Pestana Alvor Praia sits just outside the centre on a headland above Praia dos Três Irmãos, giving you those wide-open Atlantic views plus a peaceful setting.
Stroll along the boardwalks that lace through the dunes, taxi into nearby Portimão or Praia da Rocha for livelier evenings, or simply ride the hotel lift down to the sand and stay put with a book and the sound of the surf.
- Approx. transfer time from airport 2 Hours (from Faro – FAO)
Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Outside, the main freshwater pool looks straight out towards the ocean, with a separate children’s section so families can splash without disturbing those snoozing on the loungers. There’s plenty of space around the sunbathing terrace with sunbeds and parasols, plus complimentary pool towels.
When the Atlantic breeze picks up or you just fancy a change of scene, head to the indoor freshwater pool with whirlpool – a lovely option in the cooler months.
The real star, though, is the direct access to the beach. A combination of lift and steps brings you down onto a broad sweep of soft sand framed by dramatic rock formations, perfect for paddling children, morning jogs or sunset walks along the shoreline and boardwalk.
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness and activity fans are well looked after. The air-conditioned gym comes equipped with cardio machines, free weights and fixed strength equipment, and is complemented by a wellness area for ages 12+.
At the Magic Spa you’ll find a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and whirlpool, plus a menu of massage and beauty treatments for an extra charge (typical opening 08:00–20:00; hours may vary).
Evenings bring live music in high season (usually frequent from April to October and occasional from November to March), giving the hotel a laid-back, grown-up ambience after dark.
Practical touches include concierge and currency exchange services, luggage storage, and the ability to hire items like kettles, pushchairs, wheelchairs and mobility scooters (local charges apply). English-language newspapers are often available.

Food & drink
Food is a strong suit here, with three restaurants and two bars giving you a good mix of buffet choice and à la carte treats.
Restaurante Almofariz is the main buffet restaurant, serving international dishes for breakfast and dinner with live show-cooking stations and a kids’ menu and highchairs available.
Sul Restaurant (buffet, adults-only, typically open mid-June to mid-September) leans into local Algarve flavours in a quieter setting and may apply a smart dress code in the evenings (long trousers requested for gentlemen).
Down by the pool, Oceano offers à la carte lunch and snacks with sea breezes and views.
For drinks, Bar D. Henrique is the hotel’s cocktail hub, while Ocean Bar by the pool keeps the refreshments coming during the day (seasonal hours; Ocean Bar usually closes around 17:00 between October and April).
A smart dress code can apply at dinner and some venues may require reservations or carry a supplement depending on your board basis. Menus, opening days and times may vary by season.
