Map & location
Alvor, Algarve, Portugal
Pelican Alvor sits in a quiet, residential corner of Alvor, surrounded by greenery for a chilled, away-from-it-all feel while still being close to the action.
Alvor itself is one of the Algarve’s most charming resort-towns, a former fishing village with cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses and a pretty harbour. A wooden boardwalk stretches across the Ria de Alvor lagoon and dunes, leading to wide sandy beaches ideal for families.
From the hotel, you can wander to local cafés and restaurants in around 15 minutes, or head a little further for the riverside and seafront dining spots. Golfers are spoiled with several courses a short drive away, and nature-lovers can lose themselves in the Ria de Alvor Natural Reserve with its birdlife and photo-ready scenery.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
The focal point at Pelican Alvor is its generous outdoor pool area. There’s a large freshwater main pool surrounded by sunbeds and parasols, plus a separate shallow children’s pool so younger guests can splash safely. Pool towels are provided free of charge, saving suitcase space.
Do note that access to the pool area involves a number of steps, so this particular layout may not be ideal for those with walking difficulties.
When you fancy the sea, Alvor’s long sandy beach is a short drive or a pleasant walk away. Backed by dunes and linked by a wooden boardwalk, it’s great for sandcastle-building, paddling and long sunset strolls.
Spa, sports & wellness
This is a low-key aparthotel with the focus firmly on relaxation and independent exploring rather than a long list of organised activities. You’ll find:
• Large outdoor freshwater pool and separate children’s pool
• Sun terraces with loungers and parasols
• Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel
• Reception with luggage storage and equipment hire (including extra kettles and toasters, subject to availability)
For more active days, you’re well placed for golf, coastal walks, boat trips and watersports in the wider Alvor and Portimão area – perfect if you like to build your own itinerary.

Food & drink
Start your day with a relaxed breakfast at the Pelican restaurant, where a buffet-style spread sets you up for time by the pool or exploring Alvor. There’s also a snack menu during the day if you’re staying around the hotel.
A bright lobby bar serves local and international drinks from mid-morning into the evening – ideal for a pre-dinner aperitif before you stroll into town. By the pool, a seasonal bar keeps you topped up with cold drinks and light bites so you don’t have to break away from your lounger.
As most guests opt for self catering or Bed and Breakfast, evenings are all about discovering Alvor’s fantastic restaurants – think grilled sardines, fresh seafood rice and Portuguese wines along the waterfront.
Please note: dress codes, opening times, and services can vary by season and board basis and may change without prior notice.
