Perched on the rugged south-east coast of Madeira, Rocamar Complex – Royal Orchid Aparthotel overlooks Caniço Bay from a dramatic cliffside setting. It’s a peaceful base with the Atlantic right below you, a small cluster of shops, cafés and bars around 200m away, and a pebble beach about 850m down the road.
Traditional Caniço village lies up in the hills, while the island’s capital, Funchal, is only 10km away and easily reached by the hotel’s weekday shuttle bus (except public holidays) or by local transport. From here you can explore markets, cable cars and botanical gardens, then retreat back to the quieter coast for sunset.
