Map & location
Kalyves, Crete (Chania Area), Greece
Kalyves Beach Hotel enjoys one of the most atmospheric spots on Crete’s north coast. On one side you’ve got the clear waters of the Xydas River, on the other a sweep of Blue Flag sand and Souda Bay’s open sea. Step out of the garden and your feet are on the sand; step inland and you’re in the centre of Kalyves, a traditional Cretan village with tavernas, bakeries and everyday life still ticking along.
The soaring White Mountains frame the backdrop, and Chania’s Venetian harbour is within easy reach for day trips, boat rides or a wander through its old quarter. It’s an easy-going base if you like to mix beach time with exploring, without needing a car every day.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
You’ll have plenty of choice when it comes to a swim. There are two outdoor freshwater pools: a main pool with a children’s section and sunbathing terrace with loungers and parasols, and a separate adults-only outdoor pool for quieter dips. Inside, there’s a small heated indoor pool for adults only during the cooler months – ideal if you like an early-season escape.
The hotel opens right onto a long, gently shelving Blue Flag beach, perfect for paddling, swimming or simply stretching out beside the waves. With the river mouth on one side and the bay on the other, the setting feels both scenic and serene. Pool towels are provided by the hotel, so that’s one less thing to pack.
(Outdoor pools and the indoor pool are typically open between late March and the end of October; facilities and operating dates can vary by season and weather.)
Spa, sports & wellness
Stay active at the compact, air-conditioned gym, which comes with cardio equipment plus a small wellness area featuring a sauna and whirlpool (minimum age 18 years, local charges may apply). Lighter activity options include aqua aerobics sessions, table tennis and yoga, depending on the programme and occupancy.
In the evenings, you can expect regular entertainment between late March and late October, such as in-house shows and live music. It’s low-key rather than loud, in keeping with the hotel’s relaxed atmosphere.
Other handy touches include reception with concierge-style support and luggage storage, and the possibility to hire practical extras such as pushchairs (subject to availability and local charge). Being in the resort centre, you’re also a short walk from local shops, cafés and car-hire outlets if you want to explore under your own steam.

Food & drink
The main buffet restaurant is the heart of the hotel, perched beside the Xydas River with views across the bay. Expect a relaxed, informal feel with a mix of Greek and international dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus theme nights and a good choice of salads and hot plates. Highchairs are available for younger guests, and there’s usually something even picky eaters will be happy with.
A pool bar keeps you topped up with drinks throughout the day, from coffee and soft drinks to local wine, beer and simple cocktails, while the main bar is the go-to spot for a pre-dinner ouzo or a nightcap after the evening entertainment.
A smart-casual dress code may apply in the restaurant (no beachwear), and opening dates, times and what’s included can vary slightly across the season. If you’re on All Inclusive, you’ll have buffet meals plus snacks at set times and a selection of local drinks from late morning until late evening. Exact inclusions can change, so check the latest description in your Travelisto quote. What All Inclusive typically includes.
