Afandou, Rhodes, Greece
Olivia Blue Sea sits in the laid-back resort of Afandou on Rhodes’ east coast, a great choice if you prefer authentic Greek villages and long beaches over busy nightlife. The hotel is a short walk from Afandou’s sand-and-shingle shore, where you’ll find clear, calm water and a scattering of beach bars.
Afandou village itself is leafy and traditional, with narrow streets, local cafés and an impressive Orthodox church by the square. It’s a quiet base that still puts you within a manageable taxi ride of livelier spots like Faliraki or Rhodes Town if you fancy a change of pace in the evenings.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Water is the star of the show here. Spread across the grounds you’ll find five outdoor freshwater pools, each with generous sunbathing terraces, loungers and parasols. Some areas feel livelier; others are more low-key, so you can pick the vibe that suits your mood.
Inflatables are permitted in the outdoor pools (subject to lifeguard guidance), and free pool towels mean one less thing to pack. Inside the spa centre, an additional indoor freshwater pool – heated in the main season – offers a calmer spot for a relaxing dip.
Afandou’s long sand-and-shingle beach is around 500m away. It’s one of the island’s longest stretches, with clear water that’s ideal for swimming and rocky patches that reward snorkellers. Despite its size, it rarely feels overcrowded, and low-key beach bars dot the seafront for drinks and simple lunches.
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness is a real focus at Olivia Blue Sea. The compact spa features a sauna, whirlpool and massage rooms for head-to-toe relaxation (treatments are chargeable). The indoor pool, located within the spa, is heated during the main operating season and offers a quieter alternative to the outdoor pool scene.
The air-conditioned gym is well set up for holiday workouts, with cardio machines, a free weights section and strength equipment. Opening hours typically run from late morning to early evening in the summer season.
Elsewhere, there’s occasional daytime and evening entertainment – think laid-back activities, live music and low-key shows rather than loud party nights – plus an on-site mini-market for sundries. Reception can arrange mobility scooter and wheelchair hire (at extra cost) and offers luggage storage and charging facilities for scooters.

Between meals, the terrace snack bar steps in with light bites during the day, ideal for poolside grazing. Evenings centre around the lounge bar for pre-dinner drinks in a relaxed setting, while the pool bar keeps cocktails and long drinks flowing until late.
Smart casual dress may be required in the main restaurant and lounge bar (no beachwear). Restaurant and bar schedules, menus and any reservation requirements can change by season and board details, so use the on-site info or app to check what’s current during your stay.
