Snuggled on a hilltop surrounded by vineyards, Art Hotel Santorini sits just outside Pyrgos – one of the island’s most atmospheric, preserved villages and a former capital of Santorini. Whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and tiny bell-clad chapels tumble down cobbled alleys, while the main square is dotted with dinky coffee shops and wine bars.
Being in the island’s centre means you’re well placed to explore both east and west coasts: dramatic caldera views and sunset spots in one direction, and volcanic beaches like Kamari in the other. There’s no on-site beach, but Santorini’s volcanic shores are within easy reach. Kamari’s long, black-sand beach – lined with tavernas, loungers and watersports – is around 6km away, while the caldera-side sunset spots of Fira and Imerovigli are a short drive in the opposite direction.

Local language is Greek; currency is the Euro (€); time zone is GMT+2 (GMT+3 in summer).
