Map & location
Kamari, Santorini, Greece
Makris Beach Hotel sits right in the heart of Kamari, one of Santorini’s most popular seaside resorts on the island’s east coast. A short stroll brings you to the car-free seafront promenade, lined with tavernas, relaxed cocktail bars and shops, all facing the dramatic black-pebble beach and deep-blue Aegean.
Kamari is flatter than the caldera villages, making it easier to get around on foot. You’re also just a few kilometres from Fira, the island’s lively capital, ideal for a sunset trip and rooftop cocktails overlooking the caldera before heading back to the calmer buzz of the beachfront.
- beach (Kamari black-sand beach) 60m
- Restaurants, bars & shops on the doorstep along the promenade
- Fira (Thira) capital a short taxi or bus ride away
- Approx. transfer time from airport (Santorini JTR) 60 minutes (coach, depending on en-route stops)
Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Makris Beach Hotel doesn’t have an on-site swimming pool – instead, life here revolves around the black-sand, blue-flag beach just a few steps away.
Guests benefit from complimentary use of sunloungers and parasols on the beach in front of the hotel, outside the main 15 May–25 September period. This service is linked to the operation of the external Prince Restaurant, so availability can vary.
The shoreline here is typically pebbly-to-sand with a gentle slope into the sea. Beach shoes are useful, as is usual on Santorini’s volcanic beaches. The waterfront is lined with chill-out bars and tavernas, so you’re never far from a cold drink or a light bite between swims.
Spa, sports & wellness
Makris Beach Hotel keeps things intentionally simple. There’s no spa or gym on site, but you’re staying in the heart of Kamari, where watersports operators, beach yoga and boat trip kiosks line the seafront in season.
On property, you’ll find:
- Reception (open approx. 15 hours per day)
- Concierge-style assistance for restaurant bookings and local excursions
- Luggage storage for early arrivals and late departures
- Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel
Local partners can usually arrange activities such as boat trips to the caldera, wine tours, hire cars or ATVs – the team at reception can point you in the right direction once you arrive.
Activities
While Makris Beach Hotel itself focuses on peaceful beachside living rather than organised entertainment, Kamari offers plenty to fill your days and nights:
- ? Watersports on Kamari beach (seasonal, independently operated)
- ⛰️ Hikes and viewpoints on the surrounding hills
- ? Santorini wine tours and vineyard visits (pick-up usually available from resort)
- ⛵ Boat trips to the caldera, hot springs and nearby islands (bookable locally)
- ? Open-air cinema in Kamari during the summer season
- ? Evening excursions to Fira and Oia for sunset views over the caldera
Our Travelisto team can help you pre-plan key experiences, or you can decide spontaneously once you’re there – the reception staff can recommend reliable local partners.
Guest services
Guest services at Makris Beach Hotel are designed to keep your stay smooth and relaxed:
- ?️ Reception open approx. 15 hours per day, 7 days a week
- ? Luggage storage for early arrivals/late departures
- ℹ️ Concierge-style assistance for local information and restaurant tips
- ? Free Wi-Fi throughout the property

Food & drink
Breakfast at Makris Beach Hotel centres around the externally run Prince Restaurant & Bar, set right on the beachfront. On certain dates, breakfast is served here with a mix of buffet and à la carte options and international flavours. At other times of the season, your breakfast may be delivered directly to your room for a more private start to the day.
Prince Restaurant & Bar also offers lunch, dinner and snacks, with an à la carte menu and drinks service on the beach. Highchairs are available, though the hotel itself is adults-only. As the restaurant is externally operated, there may be periods when it is unavailable, and services, supplements and dress codes can change between seasons – always check locally for the latest details.
