Map & location
Akrotiri, Santorini, Greece
Potnia Theron Suites is set on the southwest of Santorini in the Akrotiri area, on a hillside that gazes straight across the caldera. The setting is deliberately secluded – you’re surrounded by vineyards, low-rise houses and the island’s signature volcanic landscape rather than busy streets.
Akrotiri itself is ideal if you like a quieter, more authentic base. You’ll be a short drive from the famous Akrotiri lighthouse with its spectacular sunsets, the Minoan archaeological site and a chain of photogenic beaches, including iconic Red Beach. Fira, the island capital, is roughly a 30-minute drive away for shopping, nightlife and classic clifftop views.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Potnia Theron doesn’t have a large shared pool; instead, the focus is on private water spaces for each suite. Depending on which category you book, you’ll enjoy:
• Outdoor whirlpool on your balcony or terrace
• Private swimming pool with sunbeds and terrace in selected suites
• Generous outdoor lounging space oriented towards the caldera views
For a change of scene, drive out to Santorini’s standout beaches. Caldera-facing coves, Red Beach’s rust-coloured cliffs and Aspri or Mesa Pigadia’s dark sands are all within easy reach – ideal if you want to swim in the Aegean then retreat to your own private pool later.
Spa, sports & wellness
While this is primarily a place to unwind in your own suite, there are a few thoughtful extras:
• Intimate spa with massage treatments (16+, extra charge; typically open 12:00–19:00, Apr–Oct)
• Beauty treatments and on-site hairdresser (16+, extra charge)
• Concierge-style reception open around 15 hours per day for local tips and reservations
• Luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures
There’s no gym or structured activities here – the emphasis is on peaceful downtime, exploring by car and returning to your private terrace to soak in the whirlpool or pool as the caldera lights up at dusk.
Activities
This is a peacefully low-key retreat rather than an activities hub, but it’s perfectly placed for exploration:
• Scenic drives around Akrotiri peninsula with typically included car hire
• Sunset visits to Akrotiri lighthouse with caldera-wide views
• Day trips to Red Beach, Aspri and Mesa Pigadia for dramatic volcanic shores
• Easy access to the ancient Minoan site of Akrotiri
• Evenings in Fira or nearby villages for dining and nightlife, then retreating to your private pool
Back at the hotel, most guests simply alternate between their terrace, whirlpool or pool and the occasional spa treatment.
Guest services
• Reception open approximately 15 hours per day
• Concierge team to help with restaurant bookings and excursions
• Luggage storage for early/late travel days
• Spa massages, beauty treatments and hairdresser (16+, charges apply)
• Free Wi-Fi across suites and public areas
The small scale means service feels highly personal – more like staying in a chic private residence than in a big resort.
Food & drink
Mornings at Potnia Theron Suites are all about slow, sunshine-filled breakfasts. The intimate breakfast room and terrace serve a refined à la carte selection of Greek and local flavours, with fresh fruit, pastries, eggs made to order and island produce taking centre stage.
As the property is deliberately small and quiet, there’s no late-night bar scene on site. Instead, most guests use the typically included car hire to discover authentic tavernas in Akrotiri and along the coast, or head into Fira and nearby villages for stylish cliffside restaurants and wine bars. Opening times, dress codes and menu details can change between seasons; the team on site will update you on arrival.
