Uniquely in cruising, Regent includes UNLIMITED shore excursions — you can book two or three per port if you want to maximise. Regent doesn't run dedicated kids' clubs as standard — Club Mariner (limited child programme) operates only on selected family-season sailings. Guest demographic skews 55+. For luxury family cruising look at Crystal Cruises, Disney Cruise Line (Concierge level), or P&O's Britannia.
Regent's included-everything model means starting fares are higher than mainstream cruise lines. The all-in cost is competitive once you compare like-for-like (flights, excursions, drinks, gratuities), but the headline number is bigger. For comparable luxury at unbundled prices, look at Silversea, Seabourn or Oceania.
Regent ships are small (700-746 guests). You won't find 20 dining venues, waterparks, climbing walls or theatre productions on a Royal Caribbean scale. The luxury is in space, service and dining — not in the spectacle. If you want big-ship choice, Celebrity Edge-class or NCL Prima offer more variety at a different price point.
Regent voyages mostly run 7-21 nights, with 14-night Mediterranean and 10-night Caribbean typical. World Cruises and Grand Voyages reach 100+ nights. There is no 3-night weekend Regent product. For short luxury breaks look at Cunard or Silversea.
