Why book Seabourn

Why a Seabourn voyage?

Six reasons we recommend this line to the right kind of traveller.

Yacht-scale ships at ultra-luxury

Encore, Ovation, Quest and Sojourn carry just 600 guests; Venture and Pursuit (expedition) carry 264. The smallest ships at ultra-luxury level — meaning real personalised service, ports the bigger ships can't reach and a genuine yacht-club feel.

Restaurant by Thomas Keller

A Seabourn-only collaboration with three-Michelin-starred chef Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon). Featured fleet-wide with a TK Grill restaurant and Keller-designed evening menus across the dining venues. Genuinely the best signature-chef partnership at sea.

Caviar in the Surf

A Seabourn signature beach BBQ — staff wade into the surf in white waistcoats and serve caviar on silver trays from the water. Happens on private-island beach days, ritualised glamour at its most over-the-top.

Truly all-inclusive

Every Seabourn fare includes: all dining (every restaurant, every venue), premium drinks (open bar throughout), gratuities, Wi-Fi, in-suite minibar restocked daily and complimentary 24-hour room service from any restaurant menu. The bill is the bill — no add-ons.

Two expedition ships

Seabourn Venture (2022) and Seabourn Pursuit (2024) are purpose-built luxury expedition ships — 264 guests, two submarines, 24 zodiacs, ice-strengthened hull. Polar regions, Galapagos, Patagonia and remote tropical archipelagos with ultra-luxury accommodation.

Spa with Dr. Andrew Weil

The Spa & Wellness with Dr. Andrew Weil — celebrity-doctor-curated wellness programme. Mindful Living retreats, yoga, meditation, plus a full beauty programme and thermal areas. Day passes complimentary.

The honest version

Might not be for you if…

No cruise line is for everyone. Here's where Seabourn might not fit. We'll point you elsewhere if so.

You're looking for entry-level pricing

Seabourn is at the top tier of ocean cruising. Headline fares start where most premium and ultra-luxury lines do. The all-inclusive base is genuinely all-inclusive, so the comparison is fairer than it looks, but the cash-flow commitment is real.

You want a big-ship resort experience

Seabourn yacht-scale ships have no waterparks, no theatres on Royal Caribbean scale, no casinos worth noting. Spa, dining, conversation and destination are the experience. For resort cruising look at Royal Caribbean or MSC.

You're travelling with young kids

Seabourn accepts children but has no kids' programme, no babysitting and the atmosphere is firmly adult. For family cruising look at Royal Caribbean, MSC, P&O or Princess.

You want included business-class flights

Seabourn doesn't include flights or transfers in its standard fare. Compare to Regent Seven Seas (flights included on most fares) or Silversea (door-to-door flights option). Seabourn focuses its all-inclusive on the onboard experience.

FAQ

Quick answers about Seabourn

What's included in a Seabourn fare?
A lot. All dining at every restaurant, premium drinks throughout the ship (open bar), gratuities, Wi-Fi, in-suite minibar (restocked daily with your preferences), 24-hour in-suite dining from any restaurant menu, complimentary tender service and water-sports equipment from the marina (on ships with one). The fare excludes flights, transfers, shore excursions and rare-vintage wines or reserve spirits.
What's Restaurant by Thomas Keller?
A fleet-wide partnership with three-Michelin-starred Chef Thomas Keller (The French Laundry, Per Se, Bouchon). Manifests as The Grill by Thomas Keller (signature American grill restaurant) and Keller-designed evening menus extending across The Restaurant (main dining) and Earth & Ocean. The best signature-chef partnership at sea — and the only Keller restaurants outside his own.
What's Caviar in the Surf?
A Seabourn signature ritual on private-island beach days — staff wade into the surf wearing white waistcoats, carrying silver trays of caviar and champagne. Guests wade out to meet them. Ritualised glamour, performed to camera but genuinely fun. Happens on most Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.
What's the difference between Seabourn ocean and expedition ships?
Four ocean ships (Encore, Ovation, Quest, Sojourn) carry 600 guests each on classic luxury cruising in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Asia and World Cruise routes. Two expedition ships (Seabourn Venture launched 2022, Seabourn Pursuit launched 2024) carry just 264 guests with two submarines each, 24 zodiacs, ice-strengthened hulls and onboard expedition teams — for Antarctica, Patagonia, Norwegian fjords, Northwest Passage and tropical Pacific islands.
How does Seabourn compare to Silversea and Regent?
All three are ultra-luxury all-inclusive but positioned slightly differently. Seabourn is the most yacht-scale (smallest ships, 600 guests max), with the best signature-chef partnership. Silversea is slightly bigger ships, door-to-door fares optional, strong expedition arm. Regent Seven Seas is most inclusive (flights AND excursions in the base fare), bigger ships. All three are excellent — choice depends on whether you prioritise included flights (Regent), ship size (Seabourn) or destination depth (Silversea).
Are gratuities included?
Yes — all onboard service charges and gratuities are included in every Seabourn fare. There's no separate daily per-guest charge. Tipping individual staff is not expected; staff are paid through the cruise line.
What's the Seabourn Club?
Seabourn's five-tier loyalty programme based on cumulative cruise nights: Club Member (1+), Silver (21+), Gold (70+), Platinum (140+) and Diamond Elite (500+). Top tier unlocks a complimentary 7-night cruise every 70 nights beyond. Status carries over from other Carnival Corporation lines at equivalent levels.
Do I need a passport?
Yes — a passport with at least six months' validity beyond your voyage end date is essential for every Seabourn sailing. Many itineraries require visas (China, Russia, Vietnam, Australia, India etc.). Seabourn's pre-cruise team handles visa documentation on request.
