Map & location
Gerakina, Halkidiki, Greece
Sonia Resort sits at the top of Halkidiki’s Sithonia peninsula, right on the seafront in laid-back Gerakina. The bay here is calm and shallow, backed by greenery and a sweep of sunbeds – ideal for relaxed days dipping between sea and pool.
Gerakina itself has a traditional feel, with tavernas and cafés a short walk away, while the wider Halkidiki region is all about pine-clad headlands, hidden coves and low-key villages. It’s a brilliant base if you want downtime by the water with the option to explore historic sites like ancient Olynthos or make a day trip to Thessaloniki for a taste of city life.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Water babies are well looked after at Sonia Resort. There are two freshwater outdoor pools – a main pool with adjacent children’s section and a separate children’s pool with small slides and water features that younger guests will make a beeline for. Sunbeds and parasols ring the terraces, and complimentary pool towels mean one less thing to pack.
A few steps beyond the gardens you reach the hotel’s stretch of beach: a soft, gently shelving shoreline that’s ideal for paddling, swimming and sandcastle duty. Sunbeds and umbrellas are set up for guests along the sand, giving you an easy-going, all-day beach club feel without leaving the resort.

Food & drink
Days here revolve around the sea and the buffet. The main Mediterranean restaurant lays on generous spreads for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Greek and international favourites and live show cooking at dinner during the summer season (typically from late April to late October). Think fresh salads, grilled meats, pasta, local desserts and plenty of kid-friendly options.
Three bars keep you topped up from morning coffee to sunset spritz:
• Mediterranean Buffet Restaurant – buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with show cooking at dinner; smart-casual dress requested (no beachwear).
• Beach Bar – laid-back coffee bar right on the sand for daytime drinks (typically open 09:00–17:00 in season).
• Panorama Coffee Bar – relaxed spot for drinks and light bites, with views over the resort.
• Pool Bar – by the main pool, open roughly 09:30–19:00 in season for cold drinks and cocktails.
Under All Inclusive, expect buffet meals plus snacks for at least four hours a day and local wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks for a minimum of 12 hours daily. Exact opening times, reservations and any supplements can vary by season and board basis – the hotel will confirm what’s included on arrival. What All Inclusive typically includes.
