Overview

Set on the long sand-and-shingle shoreline of Ialyssos on Rhodes’ north-west coast, Sun Beach Resort is a well-established beachfront complex designed around families. Two distinct wings – a peaceful garden side and a livelier beachfront section – wrap around five outdoor pools, children’s splash areas, and an adults-only infinity pool looking straight out to the Aegean. With the flexibility of Self Catering kitchens in many rooms plus All Inclusive dining, this certified sustainable hotel suits everything from young families to multi-generational groups.

Imagine waking up to sea views, wandering past palm-dotted gardens and picking between a family-friendly pool with slides or a calm, adults-only infinity pool by the shore. Sun Beach Resort stretches along Ialyssos Beach with a choice of studios, suites and apartments, many with kitchenettes, across its garden and beachfront wings. With three restaurants, three bars, children’s clubs and daily entertainment, it’s the sort of place where you can stay put for a full week and still find something new to do each day. For couples and families looking to enjoy Rhodes’ coastline without being in the heart of Rhodes Town, Sun Beach Resort offers a sweet spot: a laid-back beachfront setting in Ialyssos with plenty of dining options, pools for all ages and self-catering flexibility. It’s around 30 minutes from Rhodes Airport. See more Greece holidays.

Map & location

Ialyssos, Rhodes, Greece

Sun Beach Resort enjoys a prime position on the coast of Ialyssos, a relaxed resort just a short drive from Rhodes Town. The beach here is a long, flat stretch of sand and shingle that’s popular with both sun-seekers and windsurfers, backed by casual tavernas and bars. From the hotel it’s an easy stroll to mini-markets, local cafés and family-run restaurants, while the medieval streets and harbour of Rhodes Town are close enough for a day or evening out.

Ialyssos is one of those Greek resorts that balances authenticity and convenience – you’ll find Greek tavernas and sunset bars alongside modern shops and water sports, all framed by views across the Aegean.

Facilities

Pool & outdoors

Water babies are particularly well catered for here, with five outdoor pools spread between the garden and beachfront wings:

– A spacious main freshwater pool with plenty of sunbeds and parasols
– A serene adults-only freshwater pool with an infinity-style edge, hammocks and views towards the beach – perfect when you need a quiet moment
– Three separate children’s pools, including one with sprinklers and one with small slides, plus shaded baby-changing facilities

Inflatables and water toys are permitted in the children’s pools, making them especially fun for younger guests. Pool towels are available (deposit or local charges may apply).

Step beyond the pool area and you’re just about 80m from Ialyssos’ sand-and-pebble beach. This long stretch of coastline is a favourite for windsurfers and those who like a bit of breeze with their sunshine, and there are traditional tavernas and modern beach bars dotted along the shore.

A smart dress code applies in the evenings (no beachwear, long trousers requested for gentlemen).

Dionysos Restaurant – À la carte spot by the pool, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu that leans into Greek and local flavours as well as international favourites. Highchairs and a kids’ menu keep younger guests happy.

Thalassa All Day Restaurant – Right by the beach, this all-day restaurant offers a mix of buffet and à la carte service for breakfast, dinner and snacks, with show-cooking at breakfast and a mix of Greek and international cuisine. Ideal if you don’t want to stray far from the sea.

Between meals you can graze at the snack points and bars:
Adults-only Pool Bar by the quiet pool, also serving light bites
Dionysos Pool Snack Bar for daytime drinks and snacks (10:00–22:00, seasonal)
Orfeas Lounge Bar for evening cocktails, coffees and late-night drinks (typically open 18:00–02:00, seasonal)

Board inclusions and opening hours can change with the season; check at reception on arrival.
