Tucked above the sea on Crete’s quiet north coast, Vasia Sea Retreat is an intimate adults-only escape with big views. Think three shimmering pools, low-rise whitewashed buildings and lazy days drifting between lounger, bar and nearby beach. With just 85 rooms, it feels boutique and relaxed, yet you still have access to a full gym and spa at the sister resort a short stroll away.

Vasia Sea Retreat sits on the peaceful edge of Sissi, a pretty harbour village on Crete’s north coast. Here the mood is easy-going: think tiny fishing boats bobbing in the marina, seafront tavernas and landscaped coastal paths instead of thumping nightlife.
From the hotel it’s a short wander to Boufos Beach, a small, natural cove with clear water and rugged headlands, while the nearest cafés and restaurants are just around the corner. When you’re ready for more buzz, larger resorts along the coast are a straightforward taxi ride away – then you can slip back to the calm of Sissi by night.

With three freshwater pools and a natural cove nearby, water babies are well looked after.
• Main pool – A spacious outdoor freshwater pool with surrounding sunbathing terrace, sunbeds and parasols. Inflatables are allowed, keeping the mood playful and laid-back.
• Additional pools – Two further outdoor freshwater pools, each with their own sunbathing areas and loungers, so it rarely feels crowded.
• Towels – Pool towels are provided against a refundable deposit, meaning more space in your suitcase.
Boufos Beach, about 500m away, is a small, scenic bay with clear water and a more natural feel than some resort sands. It’s perfect for a saltwater swim before wandering back to the peace of the hotel.
