Map & location
Imerovigli, Santorini, Greece
Xenones Filotera enjoys a serene perch on the caldera side of Imerovigli, north of Santorini’s capital, Fira. Here, bright-white cube houses cling to the rim of the volcano, with Xenones set slightly away from the village bustle for a more secluded feel and wide-open sea vistas.
You’re close enough to dip into Santorini’s hotspots – Oia’s blue-domed churches and sunset crowds, Kamari’s volcanic-sand beach and Fira’s galleries and bars – yet far enough to retreat to a quiet terrace as the sky turns apricot over the Aegean. Skaros Rock, one of the island’s most iconic viewpoints, is within easy reach for photographers and walkers.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
The hotel’s showpiece is its outdoor freshwater pool, seemingly spilling towards the caldera and Aegean beyond. It’s heated from 1 October to 1 June, making shoulder-season dips appealing, and backed by a whirlpool section (note that the whirlpool itself is not heated).
Stylish sunbeds, swing beds and parasols line the sun terrace, and complimentary towels are provided. There’s no direct beach, as Xenones is perched on the cliff edge, but Kamari’s dark volcanic sands and other island beaches are within an easy drive or local bus ride.
Spa, sports & wellness
For a pampering interlude, retreat to the petite spa area where a sauna, massages and beauty treatments are available between June and September (typically 10:00–18:00, and subject to occupancy and local charge). It’s a calm, cocooning space ideal after a day exploring cobbled lanes or hiking Skaros Rock.
Xenones Filotera leans into a laid-back, boutique atmosphere rather than a long activity list. There’s no formal entertainment programme, leaving the focus on the scenery, star-gazing and long conversations over wine. A helpful reception team is on hand with concierge-style assistance, from restaurant recommendations to arranging island excursions, winery tours and transfers.

More info
Santorini combines volcanic landscapes, cliffside villages and black-sand beaches, so packing comfortable shoes for steps and uneven paths is a must, particularly around Imerovigli and Skaros Rock. The local currency is the Euro (€) and the official language is Greek, though English is widely spoken in hotels, shops and restaurants.
Typical flight time from the UK to Santorini (JTR) is around 4 hours, with an approximate transfer time of 30 minutes to Xenones Filotera. The island can be breezy, especially in spring and late summer, so a light layer is handy for evenings spent on the terrace. Local taxes such as the Greek overnight stay tax are payable in resort and are not usually included in your holiday price.
