Map & location
Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Melia Madeira Mare enjoys a prime setting on Funchal’s well-known Lido promenade, a coastal walkway lined with bathing platforms, cafés and bars. You’re around 350m from the Lido pools, with easy access to the ocean via Madeira’s famous lido complexes rather than sandy beaches.
The immediate area is one of Funchal’s most convenient neighbourhoods for holidaymakers: plenty of restaurants, rooftop bars and shops within walking distance, plus regular public buses and taxis for the 3.2km ride into Funchal’s historic centre and marina. It’s an excellent base if you want a resort-style hotel but still plan to explore gardens, viewpoints and levada walks.

Smart dress is requested (no beachwear; gentlemen usually asked to wear long trousers for dinner).
Il Massimo – The à la carte restaurant, set by the poolside, showcases international cuisine with Madeiran touches in a more intimate setting. Ideal for a special occasion or romantic dinner. Reservations are recommended and supplements may apply depending on your board basis.
La Luna Bar – A stylish lobby bar open in the evenings (typically 18:00–00:00), perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif, digestif or relaxed nightcap with live music on selected evenings.
O Ilhéu Pool Bar – The daytime hub by the pool, usually open between 10:00–18:00, serving refreshing drinks and light snacks so you don’t have to stray far from your lounger.
