Overview
Baia del Capitano is a small, characterful 4-star hideaway on Sicily’s north coast, a short hop from UNESCO-listed Cefalù. Think olive trees and bougainvillea around a relaxed pool, bright Mediterranean-style rooms, and private access to a quiet cove for unhurried dips in the Tyrrhenian Sea. With an excellent on-site restaurant and easy access to one of Italy’s prettiest coastal towns, it’s a great choice for couples and families who prefer charm over crowds.

Map & location
Cefalù (Catania Airport), Sicily (Catania Airport), Italy
Cocooned in peaceful countryside just outside Cefalù, Baia del Capitano strikes a lovely balance between coastal escape and easy sightseeing. Olive groves and gardens wrap around the property, while a short stroll leads to a small, secluded stretch of shoreline – ideal for a morning swim before the day warms up.
Cefalù itself is one of Sicily’s showpiece towns: a tangle of terracotta roofs below a dramatic rocky headland, anchored by its UNESCO-listed Norman cathedral. From the hotel, it’s an easy trip into town for long lunches on the seafront, climbs up to La Rocca for panoramic views, or slow wanders through stone-arched lanes and old fishing quarters.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
At the centre of the gardens you’ll find an inviting outdoor freshwater pool, surrounded by a dedicated sunbathing area with loungers and parasols. It’s relaxed and human-scale – more about unwinding with a book than racing for sunbeds – and inflatables are permitted, adding to the laid-back vibe. Pool towels are provided against a refundable deposit.
A short walk from the hotel brings you to a small local beach/cove, typically quieter than Cefalù’s main strand. Here you can swim, paddle or simply soak up the coastal scenery before heading back up to the greenery of the gardens. Facilities at the beach itself may be limited, so we recommend bringing essentials with you.
Spa, sports & wellness
Baia del Capitano is all about slowing the pace. There’s no sprawling sports complex, but you will find:
• Gentle, garden-surrounded spaces perfect for reading or yoga on your own mat
• Occasional evening entertainment between roughly 15 June and 31 August, including live music (programme varies; some nights are deliberately quiet)
• A children’s playground with swings, slides and shaded areas (age/height restrictions may apply)
Additional facilities include a welcoming reception team, concierge service, luggage storage and equipment hire (including kettles and mobility scooter charging, some services may incur a local charge). Facilities and schedules are based on the previous season and may change.

Food & drink
The hotel’s culinary heart is Kefalé, an intimate à la carte restaurant serving a mix of international favourites and honest Sicilian cooking. Expect vibrant salads, pasta, local fish and seasonal produce, all paired beautifully with regional wines. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served here, with highchairs and a kids’ menu available for younger travellers.
A cosy main bar keeps you topped up with Italian coffee, aperitivi and after-dinner drinks, while the adults-only pool bar (open roughly 09:30–23:00) is on hand for chilled daytime refreshments and sunset spritzes around the water.
A smart-casual dress code may apply for dinner, and reservations or supplements can vary by board basis and season. Menu options and opening times are based on the previous season and may change.
